Our Story

The Lancer Capital Group Foundation was founded by William Sams, a Junior economics major at East Tennesseee State University, as a way to give back to the JROTC program that profoundly shaped his life. Born in Savannah, GA, William moved back to his family’s hometown of Greeneville, TN, and began attending Greeneville High School as a junior during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Joining the school’s AFJROTC unit, TN-20026, he discovered a sense of connection, leadership, and purpose that left a lasting impact. AFJROTC gave William the ability to become invloved in the community, learn skills and conceots not taught in other classes, gain leadership experience, and make friends that will last him a lifetime. Rising to the rank of Cadet Captain and serving as the unit's Logistics Commander, he embraced the program’s unique combination of leadership development, community service, and life-changing opportunities. Though health limitations prevented him from pursuing a military career, his appreciation for service and the skills he gained in JROTC inspired him to create his business, Lancer Capital Group, LLC, and ultimately the Foundation. Through this initiative, William aims to support exceptional cadets and provide opportunities for the next generation of leaders to thrive.
