MSgt Marcus Durden "Sergeant" is a retired Master Sergeant with 24 years of active duty service in the United States Air Force. After his military career, he became a founding instructor of the Greeneville High School JROTC program in 2002, where he served as an integral part of the unit’s success for many years. During his time in uniform, Sergeant held diverse roles, including Security Forces MWD handler, Combat Patrol team leader, military training instructor, Security Forces instructor, substance abuse counselor, paramedic, medical operations superintendent, and JROTC instructor.
Sergeant holds an Associate’s Degree in Police Science from the Community College of the Air Force, an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Military Leadership from Rio Salado College, a B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, and a Master’s in Education from Western Governors University. He is passionate about helping young people achieve their maximum potential, a commitment evident in his lasting impact on the many students he mentored during his tenure at Greeneville High School. Sergeant believes in giving everyone the opportunity to succeed and values fostering leadership, character, and personal growth. Sergeant was one of William Sams's AFJROTC instructors and William credits Sergeant with inspiring him to start the Lancer Capital Group Foundation.
